ABOUT JOHN DALY

John Daly is an accomplished Marine Engineer with over 30 years of experience in the maritime industry. John spent over 28 years as a shipboard engineer after graduating from the US Merchant Marine Academy in 1982. Possessing experience as an operating engineer, he has been responsible for a variety of steam and motor propulsion plants and electrical and auxiliary systems on various types of merchant vessels including: Combination Container Ro- Ro’s, Oil and Chemical Tankers, Bulk Carriers, Break Bulk and Passenger Vessels. As Chief Engineer from 1991 through 2010, John headed the operation, maintenance and repair; regulatory compliance; logistics and purchasing on board various merchant vessels. John has extensive training and experience in marine safety systems and programs. As a Marine Surveyor he has conducted investigations into losses of propulsion, engine casualties and accidents and injuries. He has also represented P&I Counsel on behalf of owners and provided expert testimony on behalf of the U.S. DOJ and vessel owners.
